Sex

Are you and your partner having difficulties of a sexual nature?

Are you finding that these physical intimacy issues are affecting other areas of your relationship?

Are you finding it difficult to talk to each other about what is going on in your sexual life?

Many couples have these same experiences. You are not alone!

Sexual issues can be incredibly difficult for couples to cope with, as sexual prowess is heavily emphasised on television, in movies and (it seems) almost everywhere we turn. There can be many causes or factors which can augment these difficulties, including (but not limited to):

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Lack of exercise
  • Feelings of anger or inadequacy
  • Chemical changes, such as lowering testosterone levels
  • Fear of physical intimacy
  • A desire by one partner to “punish” the other

This is just a sample of the issues which can exist and which create a distance between couples, affecting physical intimacy. While some issues have a physiological basis (e.g. decreased testostrone levels) and may be matters to discuss with your physician, other issues can be of a psychological nature and may lend themselves to couples therapy.
